Opportune Project & Funding Support offers just that, providing services to the not for profit sector. It is led by myself, Ann Newlove, bringing in associate support on larger projects where required. My background includes bidding, project delivery and operational management of multimillion pound government funded projects as well as infrastructure support to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
As an example of some of my work in the East Riding, I delivered a one year test and learn project in Bridlington, one of the region’s most deprived areas. This project saw a disused Job Centre of 2000m2 brought back in to use as a community hub housing a number of local charities and health services. Funding was secured from local health partners with the local authority providing the building on a meanwhile lease at peppercorn rates. Such was the success of the project, further funding was agreed and supported by wider grant funding and the project gained approval to continue for a further three years. This project continues to this date, providing services to the local community including independent living groups, carers support services, a digital skills hub and a social supermarket.
Other projects have included adding capacity to senior charity teams to undertake feasibility studies, project research and business cases which have led to further funding. Bid writing and governance support are also key areas of the Opportune Project and Funding Support offer.
